Floppy Rubik's Cube (1×3×3)
Floppy Rubik's Cube (1×3×3) is a Rubik's Cube game based on the middle layer of a standard cube. The flat puzzle uses nine pieces in a 3x3 grid and is also known as the FloppyCube (1×3×3). It was invented in 2004 by Japanese designer Katsuhiko Okamoto, who specializes in Rubik's Cube variations, and has been produced by Gentosha Toys since 2009. This flat cube lets you rotate the edge pieces independently, creating over three million combinations, yet the single layer keeps the solution relatively simple. If you're new to twisty puzzles or want to prepare for a full 3x3 Rubik's Cube, start with this one-layer flat cube.
How to play?
Rotate the edges of the puzzle to move the corner pieces and flip the edges. First, move one corner piece into its correct position. Then flip the two adjacent edge pieces into their correct spots. Keep working across the grid from both sides, solving neighboring corners and their edges until only one piece remains. Finish by arranging all pieces so they sit in the correct positions on the 3x3 flat grid.
