Domino-Rubik's Cube (2x3x3)

Domino-Rubik's Cube (2x3x3) is a 2x3x3 twisty puzzle, a variant of the original Rubik's Cube invented in 1983 by Professor Ernő Rubik. Its name comes from the first version of the puzzle: the top and bottom layers were black and white, and the tiles on the 3x3 faces were marked with one to nine dots, like classic domino pieces. The two 3x3 faces turn like a standard Rubik’s Cube, while the four 2x3 faces can only be turned 180 degrees. This limits the move set and creates 406,425,600 possible combinations, much fewer than the 43 quintillion of a standard cube. Computer analysis shows that any scramble can be solved in eighteen moves or less. The puzzle is not an official WCA event, but the unofficial speed record is 1.82 seconds, set by Canadian Julien Adam.

How to play?

Turn the 3x3 faces the same way you would on a standard Rubik’s Cube. Turn each 2x3 face only 180 degrees, as a half-turn. Solve the puzzle so each face shows the correct pattern of colors and dot numbers. Work within the limited moves to reach the solved state in as few turns as possible in this intricate Rubik's Cube game. Use the shuffle and reset buttons to start again, or watch the system show an automatic solution of the cube.
