Rubik's Mini Cube (2x2)

Rubik's Mini Cube (2x2) is a compact version of the original Rubik's Cube. It has only eight corner pieces, no edges or centers, arranged in a 2x2x2 format. The puzzle was invented in 1970 by Larry D. Nichols, who called it the "Rotating Cube" and used magnets as the mechanism. Four years later, the classic Rubik's Cube appeared. After the success of the 3x3x3 cube, Rubik's patented its own 2x2 design in 1983 and has sold it ever since. Because of its simple structure and fewer pieces, Rubik's Mini Cube (2x2) has 3,674,160 possible permutations. Solving it is the same as solving only the corners of the standard Rubik's Cube. This Rubik's cube game uses the official WCA puzzle type, and the current world record for solving it is 0.43 seconds.

How to play?

This is the smallest cube to start learning with. It has eight small cubes with eight different colors. On-screen buttons let you shuffle the cube and reset it to the solved state to make practicing easier. At the beginning, you can skip the automatic shuffle and mix the colors yourself with a few turns, then reset everything. This approach works well for learning the basics. Rotate the faces so that all the small cubes on one side of the larger cube are the same color. Use the shuffle button for a random scramble, or reset the cube if you get stuck. To study the solving principles, make a few manual moves, then reset and repeat on this simple puzzle.
