Tower Cube (2x2x3)
Tower Cube (2x2x3) is a 2x2x3 version of the original Rubik’s Cube, invented in the early 2000s. Mass production of this pocket-sized puzzle started in 2009. Its mechanism is similar to a Rubik’s Cube, but when you rotate a side face a quarter turn, the puzzle locks until you complete a full half-turn. This cube is part of the 2x2xN parallelepiped puzzle series. It has eight corner pieces and four edge pieces. Because there are so few pieces, there are no more than 200,000 possible combinations, and each one can be solved in fourteen moves or fewer. It is considered a relatively simple puzzle. The unofficial world record for solving it is 1.43 seconds.
How to play?
Rotate the cube’s faces to move the corner and edge pieces. Watch the mechanism: a quarter turn of a side face locks the puzzle until you finish the half-turn. Solve it so that each face of the tower is a single color. Use the fewest moves possible to get your best result in this compact variation of the Rubik’s Cube.
