Yahtzee

In “Yahtzee,” you don’t run, build, or shoot. You roll the dice, select the right combinations, and record your points so that by the end of the game, you’ve scored more than your opponent. This card-and-board game, which falls under the dice game category, isn’t based on random clicks but on choosing the right combination at the right moment.

The name “Yahtzee” is related to a yacht. According to an old story, the dice game was invented while sailing, and then it spread further and was given a short name. Today, Yahtzee is known as both “Yachtzi” and “Yatszi,” but the essence is the same: you count the dice, record the results, and score the most points over 13 rounds.

How to play?

Roll five dice and immediately decide which ones to keep. There’s a sixth die in reserve, but only five are used in each round. After the first roll, you can set aside the dice you want to keep and reroll the rest. Then repeat this process once more. The game allows up to three rolls per round, so you’re not just relying on luck—you’re building the combination you need piece by piece.

After a series of rolls, be sure to select a row in your scorecard. Your turn won’t end without a entry. This is an important rule in Yahtzee: even if you didn’t roll a strong combination, still enter your result in one of the available numbers. This way, the entire sheet gradually fills up, and there are no empty spaces left by the end.

In this version, you can only play with one other player. You go first, then the bot rolls the dice. The computer opponent is assigned a random name and avatar, but it scores points according to the same rules. A game lasts 13 rounds. When the scorecard is full, the game tallies all the points and immediately shows who won the match. Want a rematch? Start Yahtzee again and try to roll the dice more accurately in the next game.
