Traditional Checkers

Slide black pieces across the board, trap opposing men on the diagonals, and play by the older draughts rule set in Traditional Checkers. Regular pieces move a single square forward on a dark tile. Crowned pieces gain the backward capture that separates this version from basic men, yet they still step only to a neighboring square.

How to play?

Before your move ends, click a checker and then choose a dark square that lies one diagonal step ahead, unless a jump is available over an adjacent opponent. Across the board, remove an enemy piece whenever your checker lands on the empty square beyond it, which means captures happen by jumping rather than by sharing a tile. After a piece reaches the far edge, it becomes a king, which lets it capture backward even though its movement stays limited to one adjacent cell.
