Alias
Imagine knowing a word but not being able to say it. That’s the funny predicament you’ll find yourself in with “Alias.” It’s a game where you have to explain words in a way that lets your friends figure out what you’re talking about on their own. Some players think of movie characters, others think of delicious food, and still others think of faraway countries—all within the same group. The laughter usually starts right from the first card, because when a friend is struggling to find the right words and you just can’t figure out what they mean, it’s really funny.
How to play?
The game is played in teams, each of which must have at least two people. You can choose different team names: The Explosive Crew, The Reading Stars, The Speedsters, The Lucky Ones, and others. Each team has a captain. The captain receives a card and explains the secret word in their own words—using synonyms, stating the opposite meaning, or simply describing it without saying the word itself. For example, the sun can be described as “a hot ball in the sky that rises in the morning.” Abbreviations, sounds, gestures, and drawings are not allowed, so only spoken language can help. Each round lasts 60 seconds, so you have to think fast. If the team guesses the word correctly, the captain presses the “Correct” button; if not, they press the “Skip” button, and the card moves on to the next player. In total, the game features over 1,000 cards organized into themed sets: Famous Movies, The Harry Potter Universe, Culinary Delights, Travel, Legends and Myths, and others. Choose a set, start a round, and the fun begins right away. The team that reaches the finish line first wins and becomes the Master of Associations.
