You will play them both, but not simultaneously. The player has to switch between the characters depending on the circumstances. The fair maiden can pass through white waters and collect white magic. But a collision with dark water is fatal for her, so avoid the purple water. But a dark wizard can easily cross purple waters and collect dark magic but will die upon contact with light sources. Keep this in mind at every level! The dungeon will be full of clever traps. You must use the levers and watch what they activate to deal with them.
