After several days of exhausting wandering through the lifeless wasteland, you finally managed to find an old, dilapidated hut where you could take a little rest. As soon as you gain strength, start exploring the area in search of twigs, stones, and many other valuable resources to craft tools. To pick up an item, simply walk up to it, and your character will automatically pick it up.
