RetroOS 2001
An old computer system, frozen in time in the early 2000s, hides dangerous secrets and erased traces of past events in its directories. In “RetroOS 2001,” you’ll take on the role of the new operator at Station NX-4417 in the mysterious Department of Archival Systems. The system has been idle since March 2001, and its former owner left everything in complete disarray. Amid the daily routine, a quiet and eerie story emerges about what really happened here between 1981 and 2031. Examining forgotten letters, documents, and deleted files will help you piece together the past and uncover the station’s greatest secrets.
How to Play?
The archive station’s interface is modeled after classic operating systems, featuring a full-fledged desktop, taskbar, and “Start” menu. Switch between accounts as needed, log in as a guest or administrator, and launch the necessary applications. Meet your work quotas on time, defragment the disk, and carefully review incoming emails so you don’t miss any important messages. To earn credits, unlock 15 different training modules, each with 12 levels, and use 27 programs in your work, including Task Manager, the Registry, and a command line with 35 commands. Pay special attention to the first simulator called “Negatives,” which contains a collection of family photos scanned on an old scanner. Carefully examine the photo and find the hidden, eerie defects that weren’t originally present on the paper originals—a silhouette in the back of the room, a stranger’s hand on a shoulder, a distorted face, or a figure in the window. Hurry to spot the anomaly before the damaged media is sent for disposal. Spend the credits you earn for meeting objectives on new wallpaper and window decorations, collect 30 unique achievements, and make your way to the finale of this computer detective game, “RetroOS 2001.”
