Othello with the Computer

Across the 8x8 grid, black and white discs meet in Othello with the Computer. A computer opponent takes the second side. Four two-color pieces sit in the middle at the opening position. Black moves first. Each disc has a black face and a white face. A legal placement must create a straight line with another disc of the same color, with opposing discs between them. That line may run across a row, a column, or a diagonal. Once a disc lands, every opposing disc trapped on that straight line flips to the active color.

How to play?

Play alternates between the two sides until no legal placement remains or the board fills up. When one side has no move that would flip an opposing disc, play passes to the other side. A match may finish before all 64 spaces are occupied. After the final position, compare the discs on the board. The higher total wins. Equal totals produce a tie.
