The thing is that the corridors will be littered with crates, barrels, and other obstacles, collision with which you must avoid. Otherwise, you will lose and be forced to start the race again. Or use the one-time resurrection to continue the game. Jumping consumes energy points, which can be replenished by picking up various foods.
