Hunt down objects, drag stuff where it looks like it should fit, and combine random things if you're stuck. If the answer won't appear, start checking for those mini-monkeys. You'll need to collect them on every stage; they sometimes open up bonus puzzles or drop hints when regular tools won't cut it.
