Mushroom Hunting: Forest Search
Mushroom Hunting: Forest Search is a laid-back village life simulator where you’ll become a true mushroom hunter. Each day begins with a trip to the forest, and the mushrooms you gather are put to good use—you can dry them, pickle them for the winter, or prepare dishes to sell to your neighbors. In total, there are 63 types of mushrooms to discover in the atlas, ranging from common white mushrooms to fly agarics, and each mushroom is identified by four characteristics: cap, stem, base, and cross-section. Some edible species look dangerously similar to poisonous ones, so it’s worth carefully studying the description before placing a find in your basket. Mushrooms are divided into four rarity levels. Common ones can be found in every clearing, but legendary ones, such as the white truffle or the morel, will take some searching to find. The game progresses through days and seasons—summer gives way to fall, then winter, and finally spring—and your progress is built on interacting with the villagers, completing their quests, and selling your harvest at the market. The game also features a ranking of the best mushroom hunters, achievements, a kitchen, and a pantry for storing supplies. The main goal is to save up 100,000 coins, unlock all mushroom types in the atlas, befriend all the villagers, and ultimately open your own mushroom shop.
How to play?
Tap “Into the Forest” to set out on a hunt, and tap on the mushrooms you find among the leaves and grass. Study the description in the field guide—the cap, stem, base, and cross-section—and decide whether to put the mushroom in your basket or leave it be. If you mistake a mushroom for a poisonous one, you’ll have to run to the herbalist for help. Complete tasks for the villagers, sell your harvest at the market, and unlock new forest locations for foraging. Preserve mushrooms for later, dry or pickle them for the winter, and gradually save up money for your own shop. Collect all 63 mushroom species in the atlas, including rare and legendary ones, and track your progress on the main screen to see how many days it will take to complete your career as a mushroom hunter.
