Embercry
The investigation in Embercry lands on Alice's desk after police officers finish their first sweep of a locked house. She's a senior journalism student with a habit of digging through hard cases that Inspector Floyd passes her for university research. This time, the file concerns a boy who vanished while his mother stepped out to visit a neighbor for a few minutes. She came back, found the house still locked, and called the police. Alice studies the scene after the official search, builds her own theories, and follows small details that the first report didn't settle.
