Slice Fractions: Experimental

The baby mammoth has only one dream—to return home—and in the game “Slice Fractions: Experimental,” you’ll have to help him break free from the ice block before his epic journey begins. Lava and other obstacles block the baby mammoth’s path, and to clear the way, you’ll have to pop bubbles and slice through blocks of ice and lava. This is a dynamic physics-based puzzle game where you learn fractions through hands-on play rather than dry formulas, so the game also serves as a great tool for understanding parts and wholes, numerators and denominators, and comparing fractions.

How to Play?

The game has two modes: a tutorial for beginners and experimental levels for experienced players—it’s best to start with the first one to master the basics. The gameplay is simple—the ice must extinguish the lava. The lava is on the ground, and the ice blocks are suspended from above, so you need to pop a bubble to make an ice block slide down and cover the lava. The baby mammoth will only move once the path is completely clear; if any ice remains in the way, it will just stay put. The further you progress, the more complex the mechanics become—portals appear that multiply the ice and allow you to move blocks of ice and lava, so it’s worth planning your moves in advance. Ice blocks can be cut, and each one indicates how many pieces it can be divided into; portals can be removed when no longer needed, which helps you practice your fraction skills.
