Hobo: Road to Success
Change someone else’s life for the better and help them climb out of the depths. In the game “Hobo: Road to Success,” you’ll meet a character who has nothing: no roof over his head, no money, not even a pair of shoes. His home is among the bushes by the roadside, and all his possessions fit into a single bag of empty bottles. People walk by without noticing that this homeless man still has the strength and the will to change his fate. Today he’s rummaging through trash cans looking for loose change, but who knows where he’ll end up a few levels down the road.
How to Play?
In the game, you start by collecting bottles, which you can take to a recycling center to earn your first in-game rubles. With this money, the character buys food, gets medical treatment, and boosts his mood. You need to keep an eye on the character’s status using three meters: health, hunger, and mood. Additionally, actions consume energy. There are jobs here to suit every taste: you can rummage through trash cans, deliver newspapers, and—as you gain experience—get behind the wheel of a garbage truck or work as a private taxi driver. There’s also a seedy side to the city, represented by the “Crime” section, where you can make quick money but risk running into trouble. Every attempt to earn money is accompanied by a brief event: a brick might fall on your head, your character might be attacked by thugs, or you might get food poisoning from something you ate. As you gain experience, new activities become available. The store sells a beginner’s kit with food, rubles, and a recovery token, while infinite moves allow you to remove the energy consumption limit. You can upgrade your living quarters in stages, starting with bushes and a trash can and progressing to a cardboard box, a shack, a basement, an attic, and other options. Education begins with learning to read for 15 rubles; you can then complete the third- and ninth-grade curricula, raising your character’s status. Transportation helps you get around faster. The character has access to slippers, shoes, a skateboard, a bicycle, and other modes of transportation. The “Business” and “Food” sections open up additional opportunities for development. Gradually, the character can acquire their own home and business if you manage their money wisely.
