The Long Way

The game "The Long Way" is an atmospheric survival and road trip simulator set in an endless desert where the ocean once was. Here you’ll find sunken ships, abandoned gas stations and shacks, cacti, wind, and clouds of dust—a true post-apocalyptic journey through the desert. You’re alone on this adventure—no other players, just you and the vast open world. You start in the center of the map, in a garage with your first car—a GAZ-24 Volga—which you’ll need to build from scratch: install the doors, hood, trunk, engine, and wheels. Then manually open the garage door, start the engine, and drive off. Before you lies a road stretching to the right and left—where to go is entirely up to you. The game combines survival and resource gathering, car repair and tuning, and open-world exploration with realistic vehicle physics and unpredictable events on the road. Search abandoned houses, garages, and accident sites for spare parts, gasoline, and food—you can carry all of this in the trunk. Out in the vast desert, you can find other cars, body parts, and components to install on your Volga. The game features settings for language selection, graphics, sound, and more.

How to play?

Start in the garage: install doors, a hood, a trunk, an engine, and wheels on the Volga. Open the garage door manually, start the engine, and drive out onto the road. Choose a direction—right or left—and set off to explore the desert. Keep an eye on your fuel level and look for gas at gas stations and garages. Collect food and spare parts, load your finds into the trunk, and use them to repair and upgrade your car. Explore every corner of the vast map, find new cars and parts, conserve resources, and survive in the harsh conditions of the dusty desert.
